Not Forgotten Water - Papua New Guinea

Not Forgotten Water is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to delivering sustainable clean water solutions and community engagement/development services to remote coastal villages in Papua New Guinea. In PNG 88% of the population live in isolated rural communities usually without access to electricity, consistent medical care, or clean water. Statistically, PNG has the world’s worst access to safe water and sanitation and thousands of people die every year due to highly preventable water related diseases.
We will be using water desalination technology powered by solar energy to convert salty ocean water into clean, drinkable water, The ocean account for approximately 71% of all water on earth. So, by putting solutions in place to purify salt water, we are giving the communities we serve access to a practically inexhaustible source of water.
Community engagement and development is also a vital part of what we do. It’s all about building relationship with the community we’re serving, educating them on things like good hygiene and sanitation, and fostering community buy-in. One of the greatest challenges facing any humanitarian effort is what happens after you leave. Will the community maintain the solution you’ve just given them? Will they use it properly and efficiently? Or will it fall into disrepair and disuse as soon as you’re gone (as is often the case)? That’s where community engagement and development is so key to the long-term success of any project. Building a sense of value and ownership of the solution they’ve just been given ensures that they will take care of it and use it wisely.
Will you partner with us in giving the people of Papua New Guinea access to safe, clean water?
(All donations are tax-deductible.)
