Malawi
Malawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia. It stretches about 520 miles from north to south, with a width that ranges between 5 and 100 miles. Lake Malawi makes up more than a fifth of the country’s area. The nation features a mix of landscapes, including the East African Rift Valley, central plateaus, highlands, and scattered mountains. The capital city is Lilongwe. As of 2025, Malawi has an estimated population of approximately 22.2 million people, making it the 62nd most populous country in the world.
