Erol and Seren Kara - Turkey
Erol and Seren have been serving in Turkey for nearly 25 years with a passion to see the church of Christ deepen, multiply, and grow strong on local foundations. Through pastoral care, discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, and spiritual guidance, they walk alongside people in their life challenges and seek to make Christ’s healing love visible.
Serving in Turkey often means walking through an intense yet unseen spiritual battle. In a nation of nearly 90 million people, there are only about 214 regularly gathering church communities, and the total number of Protestant believers is below 8,000. This clearly highlights the need for healthy leaders and strong discipleship relationships. The ministry of the Kara family stands as a point of stability and hope right in the midst of this need.
Vision: Multiplying Disciples & The Seven Churches Region
Their vision is to see biblically grounded, locally led, sustainable, and multiplying churches spread throughout Turkey. They aim to build generational chains of faith where disciples raise new disciples and leaders develop new leaders (2 Timothy 2:2). They also serve with a focus on the Seven Churches Region in the Book of Revelation, longing to see spiritual awakening and new communities of faith grow in these ancient centers of the early church.
Pastoral Ministry & Church Multiplication
For many years, the couple has provided spiritual care, support for families, and one-on-one mentoring to new believers. Small groups, home visits, Bible teaching, and leadership development are core elements of their pastoral ministry. Because many believers in Turkey walk under cultural pressure, family opposition, and spiritual attacks, this guidance is essential.
Given that new faith communities in Turkey often sprout naturally in relational environments, they use home gatherings, small groups, one-on-one discipleship, and open Bible studies as strategic tools for church multiplication. Their goal is to see accountable, locally led, and sustainable fellowships formed over time (Acts 2:47).
Some of the individuals they have discipled are now serving as pastors, leaders, and full-time workers in various churches and Christian mission organizations. Erol and Seren are respected Christian leaders within both the faith community and broader society. Erol also serves as the lead pastor of Agios Konstantinos Church in Izmir. Agios Konstantinos Church is an official member of the Association of Protestant Churches (TeK) in Turkey.
