BULGARIA

Bulgaria, officially the Republic of Bulgaria, is located in Southeast Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. It borders Romania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, and the Black Sea. The population of approximately 6.5 million is predominantly ethnic Bulgarian, with Turkish and Roma minorities. While Eastern Orthodox Christianity is the traditional religion, many Bulgarians are nominally religious rather than practicing believers. Sofia is the capital and largest city.
